Vehicles in German Town Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police reported they were alerted by a man who discovered a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then found many other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials state early analysis indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in relation with the event," they commented.

City officials announced they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the residents for information.

A senior official said the vandalism left him stunned and had to be resolved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the death of nine victims by a shooter focusing on people of migrant background in five years prior.
